…And where energy flows, whatever you focus on grows.
After several days of shooting abdominal pain, I finally gave in and went to an urgent care center. Within minutes of seeing the Doctor I was told, “you need to be admitted to a hospital.”
They called the ER and notified them that I would be coming. The next thing I know, I am in the ER. Before I could even give them my insurance card, I hear my name being called. Next came a barrage of blood work, an injection for the pain, an ultrasound and then waiting…waiting…and more waiting.
Fortunately, there is a happy ending. No issues with my appendix. The cause of my pain…self-induced, over production of cortisol (stress hormones).
For weeks I had been accepting the wrong self-talk, that inner dialogue we all have between our two ears. Being obsessed with all that could go wrong, rather than all that could go right, was wreaking havoc on my nervous system. Literally, my emotions (thoughts and feelings) brought on phyical pain.
The underlying truth here is that when we constantly analyze and place our attention on what “could” go wrong – we are contributing to things going wrong.
I learned a valuable life lesson – how to predict my future…
The best way to predict the future is to create it. Make sure your self-talk is focused on daily possibilities rather than potential disruptions.
