It all depends…on the lens through which you view things.
Once upon a time a shoe company sent two salesmen to Africa to determine market potential. The one reported back to home office, “No one wears any shoes, there is no potential here for us.” The other salesmen sent word back, “No one here wears any shoes, there is a huge market here for us, send inventory fast!”
The point of this story is that our perspective influences our beliefs, which in turn influences our behavior. And guess what behavior influences? Our results!
Let’s dive a little deeper here. What we expect out of each day manifests itself in the words we use, and those words can have a powerful effect. For example, rather than view a difficult conversation with a customer as “I have to…” see it as, “I get to…” Replace “I have to deal with an angry customer” with “I get an opportunity to win back a customer.”
Choose to be the type of person who sees opportunity where others do not. Your daily outcomes depend on how you define each moment. Choose the right perspective, encourage the right beliefs, demonstrate the right behavior; and positive results will follow.
Every day is a good day to have a good day!
