Hi! How have you been? How’s work?

More often than not people answer with, “Busy.”

Being busy is overrated.  shutterstock_19393759

Busy does not equal productive. Busy does not equal success. Far too many of us have become imprisoned by the whirlwind of our work. Believing busy is being productive is a domino effect; once this mindset starts it builds and builds until we can no longer see the light at the end of the tunnel.

It is amazingly easy to lose sight of the important things. Just take a minute to hit pause and look around you. Everyone seems busy these days – running to and from. Yet how many of them are really producing results? How many of them are advancing the ball and succeeding? Not too many.

Achievement does not necessarily come from activity alone. Rather it is more likely a result of focused activity, doing the right things at the right time. Speaking of time, this is our most precious gift and once it is gone it may never be gotten back. Use it wisely.

Make sure that your time is dedicated to tasks that get results. Success is not a product of our time but rather our output. If you give 100% to the wrong actions, you will be no better off than before you started. Work smart, not hard; holds truth. Focus on the smart activities, which will get you results, and then work hard on those activities.

The next time someone asks you, “How have you been?” or “How is work?” – try not to answer, “Busy.” Create a more meaningful answer and you will soon get more meaningful results.

Start today what you should have started yesterday!
