The holidays are meant to be a joyous time however for many of us they can also be a series of challenges. We are buzzing back and forth, racing in and out of malls, making purchases. Before we know it, the stress of the season has “bah humbugged” our spirit.
Make more “merries” and less “meltdowns” this year and give the gift of appreciation. Take a moment and reflect on the true reason for the season. It’s not the giving of physical gifts, for they are only momentary pleasures. Instead, the holidays are a time to appreciate others. Regardless of your holiday tradition, it is a time to appreciate people who matter most in your life.
I encourage you to think of gifts that will continually benefit the recipient’s life. Call friends and family; have conversations more deeply than you usually do. The gift of appreciation, unlike material gifts, last a lifetime.
This year make the holiday season one where you focus on spending quality time with the people who matter most in your life. Share experiences and create lasting memories. After all, that is what the holidays are really about.
