In both sports and business there must be winners and losers. There are those whose performance makes the highlights, and those who make the bloopers. Want to be in the highlights? To increase your likelihood of winning, use visualization; create a mental image.

Whether it be on the field or in the office, performance is largely affected by our ability to visualize goals and the essential steps needed for hitting them. Sports psychologists use this technique to cultivate not only a competitive edge, but also to create renewed mental awareness, a heightened sense of well-being and confidence – all of which leads to winning!

It’s important that each morning you create a mental image or intention of what you want to happen that day and ultimately accomplish. Think of it as a mental rehearsal, training your mind to actually perform at the necessary level for hitting goals. Such visualization will lead you to self-efficacy; a belief that you can successfully perform specific tasks needed to win.

If reaching your goals appears to be a bit daunting, undaunt yourself. Take the advice of sports psychology, visualize the steps you must take, and just do it! The beauty of progress is that we are all capable of it and it can begin at any time. Everything is possible once you set your mind with the end goal in sight.
